Starting December 1, 2026, OSCP+ will move from a fixed passing score to equated scaled scoring.
This changes how we calculate and report results across different exam sets. The competency required to pass OSCP+ however, does not change.
If you already have an exam scheduled, the date you take it will determine how your result is calculated.
Here is what you need to know about the change:
To protect the integrity of the OSCP+ certification, we use several different versions (or “sets”) of the exam. Every set tests the exact same skills and objectives, but because the machines and scenarios are different, there can be slight, natural variations in difficulty from one exam to the next.
Scaled scoring simply does the math to account for those small differences. It ensures that every student is graded fairly against the exact same standard, no matter which version of the exam they are assigned.
- For exams taken through November 30, 2026: You must earn 70 points out of 100 to pass.
- For exams taken on or after December 1, 2026: The points you earn will be converted to a scaled score using a conversion specific to your exam set. We will compare that score with the passing standard.
After the change, 70 points will no longer be the fixed passing cutoff for every exam set. The date you take your exam determines which method applies.
No. You must demonstrate the same level of competency to earn OSCP+. The exam still has three standalone machines and one Active Directory chain. Its objectives, grading requirements, 24-hour duration, and proctoring rules remain the same.
Yes, if you meet the regular rescheduling requirements. The scoring change does not provide extra rescheduling attempts or an exception to the usual rules. You can reschedule if:
- You have an attempt available. Each exam allows up to three rescheduling attempts.
- You make the change more than 48 hours before your scheduled exam start time.
- Your new exam date falls within the validity period of your exam voucher or access grant.
These rules apply across subscription types. If you purchased a lab or exam extension and cannot reschedule despite having valid access, contact OffSec Support for assistance.
No. Results issued before the change will not be recalculated or changed. Existing certifications are unaffected, and the transition does not create additional retake eligibility.
No. Continue studying the objectives and practicing in the labs as planned. You will need to demonstrate the same skills.
Earning OSCP+ still means demonstrating practical skills in a demanding, hands-on exam. That is what learners prepare for, and it is what the certification should continue to represent. Scaled scoring helps us apply that standard consistently across different exam sets, even when their machines vary slightly in difficulty.
If your exam is scheduled near December 1, check which scoring method applies and review the rescheduling rules if you plan to move it. Then keep preparing for the same OSCP+ challenge!
