Beginning December 1, 2026, OffSec is introducing scaled scoring for OSCP+ exams. This changes how final exam results are calculated, but the skills and competency required to earn OSCP+ remain the same.

If you have an upcoming exam, here’s what you need to know about the change and how it affects you.

Why is OffSec changing OSCP+ scoring?

OSCP+ uses multiple exam sets that test the same skills and follow the same certification standard. This is a common practice in professional certification exams.

Scaled scoring allows results from these different exam sets to be reported on a common scale, providing a consistent way to determine results as OSCP+ continues to evolve.

This is an update to how exam results are calculated, not a change to the difficulty of the exam or the standard required to pass.

How will pass or fail be determined?

The scoring method will depend on when you take your exam:

  • Exams taken through November 30, 2026: The current passing score of 70 out of 100 points will apply.
  • Exams taken on or after December 1, 2026: Your final result will be determined using scaled scoring. There will no longer be a single raw-point passing score across all exam sets.

Under scaled scoring, you should no longer use 70 points or any other specific raw-point total as a passing target. Your raw points alone will not determine whether you’ve passed. Your official result will be provided after your exam has been graded. For more information, please review our updated scoring guidance.

What’s staying the same?

The skills and competency required to pass OSCP+ are not changing. Neither are the exam content, objectives, grading requirements, format, duration, or proctoring.

Graders will continue to evaluate your submitted work according to the same requirements. Scaled scoring changes how your final result is calculated after grading, not how your work is reviewed.

You do not need to change how you prepare for your exam. Continue studying the same objectives, practicing in the labs, and following the requirements outlined in the OSCP+ Exam Guide.

What if my exam is scheduled around December 1?

The scoring method that applies to your exam depends on the date you take it.

If your OSCP+ exam was originally scheduled before December 1, 2026, at 08:00 GMT, but you reschedule it to take place on or after that date and time, your exam will be scored using the new equated scaled scoring method.

Existing scheduling and rescheduling policies remain unchanged. You cannot select a scoring method independently of your exam date.

We recommend choosing your exam date based on your preparation and available scheduling options. OffSec does not recommend one scoring method over the other. The certification standard remains the same.

Will previous exam results or existing certifications change?

As part of our standard quality-assurance process, we review exam outcomes on an ongoing basis. In the rare case that a review affects an individual candidate’s result, we will contact that candidate directly. You don’t need to submit a request.

Retake policies, waiting periods, and exam fees also remain unchanged. Any new exam attempt taken on or after December 1 will use scaled scoring.

Should I change how I approach the exam?

No. Your preparation and approach should remain focused on demonstrating your skills across the full exam. Review the OSCP+ Exam Guide before your exam to make sure you understand all requirements for completing and submitting your work.

During your exam:

  • Attempt every machine and exam objective.
  • Submit every flag you obtain.
  • Document your work according to the OSCP+ Exam Guide.
  • Complete and submit your exam report, regardless of how many points you believe you’ve earned.

With scaled scoring, reaching a particular raw-point total does not confirm whether you’ve passed. Continue working through the exam and wait for your official result.

Keep Preparing for Your OSCP+ Exam

While the scoring method is changing, the skills and preparation required to earn OSCP+ remain the same.

Continue building your practical skills, working through labs, and preparing to demonstrate what you’ve learned. For additional guidance, check out our OSCP Exam Preparation Guide for tips to help you prepare for exam day.
